
SLCARP host awareness programme on “Clean Sri Lanka”
Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research Policy (SLCARP) and the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) together organized a program to introduce the “Clean Sri Lanka” concept to their employees and motivate them to achieve the objectives of that concept.
The event was held at the SLCARP auditorium on 27th of May 2025, Professor Saman Dharmakeerthi, Chairman of SLCARP, and Professor A.L. Sandika, CEO/Director of the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute (HARTI) welcome the employees to the event Clean Sri Lanka and gave inspiring speeches.
The highlight of the day was a three-hour session led by Mr. Dunith Somirathna, director in a Sri Lankan ministry related to "Ethical and Moral Aspects”, who delivered a comprehensive and compelling insight into the Clean Sri Lanka programme. A key message in his session was the need for a mindset and attitude shift among government officers to ensure the successful implementation of the Clean Sri Lanka initiative. He emphasized that institutional cooperation, personal accountability, and proactive engagement from public sector officials are vital in translating the government’s sustainability vision into meaningful action at the ground level.
