Emireteous Prof. Nimal R. Chandrasena, from University of Colombo officially handed over copy of, "The
Virtuous Weed", published to the Secretary/Director of the Sri Lanka Council for Agricultural Research
Policy (SLCARP) with the presence of Dr. Chandra Padmini, Deputy Director Research Management and
Mr. Sameera Dissanayake, Senior Research Officer (CUD).
Presently Prof. Nimal works in Australia and he is a well-published scholar. He has been a long-time
campaigner for the utilization of these maligned plants for societal benefits. Instead of being
disrespectful to weeds, He makes a plea to understand weeds better and treat them as “Nature’s Gift”.
The book of The Virtuous Weed a detailed exploration of critical dialogue on weeds, across borders that
separate diverged view. The book provides compelling evidence of the virtuous side of weeds and their
utilization potential for people’s livelihood and sustainable future societies.
